Day 1-Arrive in Phoenix

Upon arrival, our motorcoach will whisk you away to Williams, Arizona where you will experience the luxury of a bygone era at Grand Canyon Railway Hotel. Designed to resemble the century-old train depot that housed the original Fray Marcos Hotel, this hotel is a relaxing retreat in a picturesque Western setting. After checking in to your hotel, join the group for a Welcome Dinner. (D)

Day 2-Rail to the Grand Canyon and Overnight

Enjoy a buffet breakfast this morning and then get ready for a fantastic adventure. From its yesteryears of transporting ore through the Wild West to present-day journeys in the heart of the canyon, the Grand Canyon Railway has enchanted millions of people from around the world since 1901-and now it's time for you to experience the wonderful romance of a voyage by train. Take an unforgettable ride on a beautifully restored train car and hear folklore and tales from a crew who are still bewitched by their spectacular surroundings. Be entertained by authentic characters and musicians who bring the Old West to life. And lose yourself in the majesty, the magnificence that is Grand Canyon National Park. Upon arrival you will see one of the wonders of the world! Stand at the rim and take in an expanse of rock representing one and a half billion years of the earth's history. The different colored layers of sandstone, limestone and shale-all unveiled by erosion-tell stories of tropical seas, deserts with high dunes and lowlands covered with swamps and rivers. Spend the night in the heart of the Park! (B)

Day 3-Tour Grand Canyon-Lowell Observatory-Sedona

Sunrise in the Grand Canyon is fabulous. We will provide a wake-up call if you want to venture out in the early morning. After breakfast, a naturalist will take us on a tour to unveil the history and geology of this special place. In the afternoon, our exploration continues as we head to Flagstaff, Arizona for a daytime "Deep Space" Tour at Lowell Observatory. After a phenomenal day, another highlight awaits as we head to picturesque Sedona, Arizona our "home away from home" for three incredible nights. (B, D)

Day 4-Sedona Trolley Tour-Leisure Time in Sedona

Almost the entire world knows that Sedona is a unique place. Characterized by massive red-rock formations, as well as the contrasting waterways of Oak Creek Canyon, the area surrounding this beloved community is considered at least as beautiful as many national parks. After breakfast at our lovely hotel, we will board a trolley to see the sights. The tour is fully narrated with the history, geology, flora and fauna, and climate of the area. You'll also learn about the Tlaquepaque arts and crafts as well as the best places for shopping and dining. A number of great photo ops are included, as well as a stop at the famous Chapel of the Holy Cross. Enjoy an afternoon of leisure to shop, indulge in a spa treatment or crack open a good book. (B)

Day 5-Jerome Ghost Town-Verde Canyon Railroad-Sedona

This morning, we stop in Jerome, an old mining town and melting pot for those who dreamed of making a quick fortune. Once virtually a ghost town, it is now restored with shops, museums and art. Later we climb aboard the Verde Canyon Railroad for a spectacular journey over old-fashioned trestles, past ancient Indian ruins and through a 700-foot tunnel. Enjoy the views from the comfort of your first-class seat or from one of the open-air viewing cars. From the moment you step aboard the fully-restored vintage train, you are whisked back to a time of luxurious and leisurely train travel. This four-hour excursion takes you on a 20-mile journey through 100 years of history. FP7 locomotives, two of only ten remaining in North America, are the muscle that pulls the renovated cars. Sandwiched between two protected sanctuaries, the Coconino National Forest and the Prescott National Forest, the Railroad runs a rare ribbon where dramatic high desert meets a precious riparian area. Each car has panoramic windows and living room-style seating with love seats and bistro-style chairs and tables. First-class passage includes Champagne upon departure, full-service cash bars, beverage service at each seat and complimentary Southwestern-style appetizers. History, wildlife and great company make for an extraordinary day. (B, D)
