Detailed Itinerary

Day 1-Arrive in New YorkUpon arrival in New York, transfer on your own to your downtown hotel, your ‘home away from home’ for the next 6 nights in the “City that Never Sleeps”. (meals on own)

Day 2-City Tour & ShowEnjoy breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, our expert guide will take you to see some of the city’s most famous landmarks: Central Park, Times Square, Greenwich Village and Chinatown. Tonight, get ready for a big treat as we enjoy dinner out and great seats to a Broadway Show. (B, D)

Day 3-Lower Manhattan TourEnjoy breakfast in the hotel. Today we’re off on a fantastic guided tour of Lower Manhattan to see the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Wall Street and Ground Zero and the new 9-11 Memorial. Tonight, you may wish to see a great show or even explore the town on your own; the choice is yours to decide. (B)

Day 4-Empire State Building & Rockefeller CenterEnjoy breakfast in the hotel and get ready for an exciting day. We will tour the Empire State Building and Rockefeller Center. Lunch today will be at the famous Carnegie Deli. The remainder of the day is free for shopping and doing things of your choice. (B)

Day 5-Harlem & Sylvia’s Soul FoodAfter breakfast enjoy an fun day as we explore Harlem. Visit the Black capital of the world and learn about its start as a rural Dutch community and transformation into a summer retreat for New York’s most prominent families. Discover how it became a mecca for African American writers and artists at the turn of the last century, to its troubled past during the 1960’s and 1970’s, and finally to its present day community brimming with pride and reveling in it’s new renaissance. Along the way you will see famous sights and landmarks such as the St. John the Divine, Columbia University, Morning Side Heights, the Morris Jumel Mansion, Strivers Row and The Abyssinian Baptist Church, Sugar Hill, St. Nicholas Avenue (where Duke Ellington lived) and the famed 125th Street, Harlem USA, the Cotton Club, the Apollo Theater, and the Schomburg Center for research in Black Culture. Next enjoy lunch at a New York institution-Sylvia’s Soul Food Restaurant. The rest of the day you are free to explore New York on your own. (B, L)

Day 6-Free Day to Explore the Big AppleAfter breakfast at the hotel, your whole day is free to explore this wonderful city. This evening we will travel to the harbor for a yacht dinner cruise. (B, D)

Day 7-Depart NYCAfter breakfast, the morning is at leisure for some last minute explorations and shopping. This afternoon transfer on your own back to the airport for your flight back home. (B)
